Commissioner's records: Dennis Buchanan
Scope and Contents
This collection primarily documents the service of Dennis Buchanan as Multnomah County Executive from 1983 through 1986. It includes little documentation of his service as County Commissioner from 1975-1982. In addition to the chronological correspondence and subject files maintained by Buchanan, the correspondence of Steven Telfer, Buchanan’s assistant is also included. The most significant issue documented in this collection is the creation and implementation of Resolution A, which restructured the way the county and the cities of Gresham and Portland delivered services. Other significant issues include land use planning and the development of light rail. This collection was created from three former accessions: 1987-053-01, 1988-144-01, and 1988-144-03.
