Mel Gordon records
Scope and Contents
This collection documents the service of Mel Gordon as Multnomah County Commissioner from 1962 through 1978. The records consist primarily of correspondence, reports and studies, and reference material documenting actions taken by Gordon or subjects in which he was interested. Some of the more prominent subjects include the development of light rail, the Mt. Hood Freeway, the county’s development of an Aging Services program, proposed consolidations of the county and the City of Portland, the development of the department system under Home Rule, and cable television.
